In the past weeks, our Orange Troops began and ended their CONCACAF Champions League run by losing 2-0 in Metapán and winning 3-1 in Bayamón, narrowly missing the Groups Stages for the first time in Islanders history. The unexpected loss has shifted the focus of the squad on ending the NASL regular season maintaining their second place of over taking the league leading Carolina Railhawks.

After being eliminated from CCL action, the Islanders are on a roll, beating FC Edmonton 0-1 and Atlanta 2-0 before facing the league leaders in Bayamón whom the Troops trailed by nine points in the standings entering Saturday’s match. The two squads seemed equal for most of the match with the Islanders scoring first after a perfectly taken David Foley penalty kick. Islander veteran Petter Villegas scored a beautiful last minute goal that sentenced the match in favor of the Troops 2-0.

For his great efforts, first year Goalkeeper Ray Burse has been named defensive player of the week.
