#PRIslanders start the #NASL season with a win
The Islanders faced the Carolina Railhawks last Saturday night in a rematch of the 2010 USSF D2 Finals. Ten minutes into the inaugural match of the 2011 NASL season play had to be stopped due to incoming thunderstorms and rain. The rainy match eventually resumed, with the weather affecting game play and turning the match into a physical and hotly contested one. At the 32nd. minute mark, Josh Hansen managed to sneak a shot that ended in the back of the net, putting the Troops on top. In the 58th minute, ex-Islander Johnny Steele, made a late and hard tackle to ex-team mate Scott Jones which earned him a straight red. The Islanders held the lead for most of the match, until the 86th minute when Etienne Barbara scored after the ref awarded a very dubious penalty kick to the Railhawks. With the weather taking a turn for the worse, including heavy rain and fog, the Islanders Jay Needham snuck a header through in the last seconds of the match, to give the Islanders a 2-1 win.
The Troops will next travel to St. Petersburg to face FC Tampa Bay this next Sunday April 17 at 6pm.

Los PR Islanders comienzan la temporada de NASL con una victoria
En la noche del sábado pasado los Islanders se enfrentaron a los Railhawks de Carolina del Norte en la revancha de las finales de USSF D2 del 2010. Con diez minutos de haber comenzado el partido inaugural de la NASL, tuvo que ser suspendido momentáneamente debido a la lluvia y tormenta de rayos que se acercaba. Eventualmente el partido lluvioso se reanudó con el mal tiempo afectando el estilo juego convirtiéndose en uno muy físico y fuertemente luchado. En el minuto 32, Josh Hansen logró colar la bola hacia el fondo del arco poniendo a la Tropa arriba en el marcador. En el minuto 58, el ex-islanders Johnny Steele recibió una roja directa luego de una entrada tardía y muy fuerte a su ex-compañero de equipo Scott Jones. Los Islanders lideraron la mayoría del partido hasta el minuto 86 cuando Etienne Barbara logró marcar luego de que el arbitro concediera un dudoso penal a los Railhawks. Con las condiciones del tiempo empeorando, esta vez incluyendo mas lluvia y hasta neblina, el nuevo Islander Jay Needham logró colar un cabezazo en los últimos segundos del partido, dándole el gol de la victoria a los Islanders 2-1.
Los Islanders proximamente viajarán a St. Petersburg para enfrentarse a FC Tampa Bay este próximo domingo 17 de abril a las 6pm.
